Welcome to the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce website, the Voice and Action of private enterprises on our Island.

Today, the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (PRCC) begins a new chapter. It is the start of a New Era. A unique moment in which Puerto Rico calls upon us to act with courage, purpose, and a sense of urgency.

For more than a century, our Institution has been a meeting place for those who believe in the capabilities of our people and the potential of our Island. It has been the voice of entrepreneurship and a driving force for economic development. Today, it is our responsibility to continue and strengthen that legacy. The PRCC must become the leading organization for identifying problems, fostering consensus, and making solutions viable.

The challenges we face are too significant to simply observe from a distance or be content with merely pointing out the problems. This is the time to act. The time to assume responsibility and build bridges of understanding.

Puerto Rico faces significant challenges. We have challenges in infrastructure, competitiveness, education, health, housing, and economic development. But in the face of these adversities, we have something extraordinary: our people. We have entrepreneurs who believe in Puerto Rico even in difficult times. We have skilled professionals. We have committed workers. We have talented and ambitious young people who want to stay in Puerto Rico and build a future in their own land.

The talent is there. What we need is direction, unity of purpose, and the will to act. And, with that in mind, I propose that we focus and organize our agenda around three major priorities:

The first priority is competitiveness.

Puerto Rico must become a place where investing, starting businesses, and growing are easier. We need clear rules, stability, agile government, and a system that rewards progress, not punishes it.

The second priority is infrastructure.

There is no economic development without modern and efficient infrastructure. We need reliable energy systems, functional roads, competitive ports, robust telecommunications, adequate housing, and access to essential services. But we must also understand that infrastructure is not just about cement and steel. It’s about quality of life. It’s about creating opportunities and transforming communities.

The third priority is reform.

Puerto Rico needs to modernize its structures and processes. We need an education system aligned with the needs of the future, an economy that incentivizes productivity, and a culture that values ​​merit, effort, responsibility, and excellence.

But perhaps the most important reform is our attitudes. We must regain our self-confidence. We must once again believe in the value of a job well done. We must aspire once more to excellence as a society. And we must understand that economic freedom is not an end in itself. It is a tool to create opportunities, strengthen families, and build shared prosperity.

I invite you to join this New Era. A New Era where economic growth is accompanied by principles. Where prosperity is tied to responsibility. Where leadership is exercised with character and purpose. A New Era in which the private sector is an example of excellence and in which Puerto Rico once again grows to its full potential.

Working together, we can build the Puerto Rico we long for. Let us begin, then, from this moment; and with God’s help, we will.
