Chamber of Commerce Business Connect
The Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce held a working session with its sector committees and affiliated associations on Thursday, September 3, at the San Juan Cruise Port to contribute ideas and proposals to the effort to develop a ten-year economic development plan, in collaboration with the Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development and Commerce and the Financial Oversight and Management Board.
The meeting fostered dialogue and cross-sector collaboration to establish priorities and help chart a path toward Puerto Rico’s growth and competitiveness. At the conclusion of the working session, a presentation on Puerto Rico’s Energy Component was delivered.

Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce Presents Book Examining the Reality of the PROMESA Act
The Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (PRCC) presented Promi$e Land, a book by author David Skeel, former Chairman and current member of the Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico, commonly known as the Fiscal Oversight Board.
The event, held at Our House restaurant in San Patricio Plaza, began with welcoming remarks by PRCC President José Julio Aparicio, who expressed his support for continued collaboration with the Fiscal Oversight Board as it works to fulfill its mandate and ultimately conclude its mission on the Island.

Special Emergency Meeting of the PRCC Energy and Water Committee
Amid the water and energy crisis affecting Puerto Rico, dialogue and collaboration among sectors are essential to identifying solutions.
Last Thursday, August 12, the President of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce, Atty. Che Julio Aparicio, and the Chairman of the Energy and Water Committee, Atty. Rodrigo Zavala, held a special emergency meeting with the Executive Committee, Advisors to the President, and several members of the Energy and Water Committee, together with leaders from the Puerto Rico Hospital Association and the Puerto Rico Restaurant Association (ASORE).
The meeting focused on analyzing the impact of the current situation, sharing information, and discussing alternatives to address the challenges facing essential sectors of our economy.
Also participating in the meeting were Past President Eng. José M. Izquierdo Encarnación; former Board Member Luz B. Otero, President of Puerto Rico Water Management; and Waleska Rivera, former Board Member, President & CEO of Danosa Caribbean, Inc., and Past President of the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association.
PRCC Actively Participates in Experiencia Puerto Rico 2026
The Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (PRCC) actively participated in Experiencia Puerto Rico 2026, an international event that brought together representatives from local governments and the private sector, organized by PRCC President-Elect Mickey Espada.
As part of the event’s agenda, PRCC President José “Che” Julio Aparicio, Esq., moderated the panel discussion “Entertainment, Sports, and Cultural Tourism as a Tool for Economic Development,” alongside leaders from Puerto Rico’s tourism industry. The discussion highlighted the potential of these sectors to generate new business opportunities, drive economic development, and further strengthen Puerto Rico’s position as a world-class destination.
Throughout the event, Aparicio and PRCC Executive Director Liza M. García, Esq., also participated in various activities and meetings with attendees.
The PRCC also hosted an informational booth to provide participants with information about the benefits and services offered by the Chamber, as well as to promote the new edition of the BizData Book 2026–2027.

Annual Membership Meeting
The Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (PRCC) introduced its new President, Attorney José Julio Aparicio, and announced the members of its 2026–2027 Board of Directors during its Annual Membership Meeting, held on Tuesday, June 30, at the Royal Sonesta San Juan in Isla Verde.
The newly elected officers include Mickey Espada as President-Elect. The newly elected directors are Alexis R. Ortiz Ortiz, Clarivette Díaz, and Guido E. Lugo Modesto. The newly elected affiliated associations are the Puerto Rico Restaurant Association (ASORE), the Official Chamber of Commerce of Spain in Puerto Rico, and the Puerto Rico Hotel and Tourism Association.
Attorney José “Che” Julio Aparicio Laspina Assumes the Presidency of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce with an Agenda to Strengthen Competitiveness and Private Sector Leadership for “A New Era”
The Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (PRCC) officially began a new chapter on July 3 with the inauguration of Attorney José “Che” Julio Aparicio Laspina as President of the organization. During the ceremony, he unveiled his vision for the future under the theme “A New Era,” focused on strengthening Puerto Rico’s competitiveness, advancing economic freedom, and reinforcing the private sector’s role as the driving force behind the Island’s sustainable economic development.
First 2026–2027 Board of Directors Meeting
On Thursday, July 16, the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (PRCC) held the inaugural meeting of its newly elected 2026–2027 Board of Directors at Triple-S Caparra. The meeting marked the beginning of a new term focused on advancing the Chamber’s mission of strengthening Puerto Rico’s private sector and fostering economic growth.
