New strategic alliance between Made in Puerto Rico and the Chamber of Commerce to promote business connections

A joint golf tournament called Puerto Rico Conecta will be held

San Juan, Puerto Rico – The Made in Puerto Rico Association (HPR) and the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (CCPR) announced a strategic alliance between both private sector guilds as part of which they will hold the first joint Puerto Rico Conecta golf tournament, a unique two-day event to be held on February 15 and 16, 2024 at the Palmas Athletic Club in Humacao.

The efforts of both organizations are aimed at maximizing the value of the golf segment with a novel tournament designed to foster commercial links between entrepreneurs and brands through sport.

«As century-old trade associations that share common partners, agendas and initiatives, we have decided to make a strategic alliance to unify efforts for the benefit of the private sector,» said agronomist Jorge Ramírez, president of the Made in Puerto Rico Association. «This event is a two-day event, without formalities, in a tourist environment with a wide range of entertainment, gastronomy and amenities that serve to create professional connections and long-term relationships.»

«We have seen that business is often born as a result of a relationship that is created through sport. This tournament is a generator of economic activity, which will boost the marketing of brands and the generation of jobs. We will also take advantage of this platform to publicize the services and facilities available by our organizations for the private sector,» said Lcdo. Ramón Pérez Blanco, president of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce.

Between the two institutions, more than 35 editions of golf tournaments have been successfully held in different places and hostels in Puerto Rico.

The leaders of the private sector expressed that the participation of around 350 entrepreneurs and business executives, including players and guests, is expected. The event is also supported by more than 30 affiliated organizations, such as the United Center of Retailers and ASORE. Over 60 companies from the private sector have joined as sponsors, such as Master Products, One Alliance Insurance, Fulcro, Walmart, BPPR, among others from different economic sectors participate as sponsors of the event.

It is estimated that the tournament will have an additional economic impact, stimulating business tourism activity with investment related to fourth nights within the framework of the development of new businesses and the commercialization of products and services.

As part of the tournament schedule, on the first day there will be a round of golf with the main sponsors that will culminate with lunch at the Club House of the Palmas Athletic Club. On the second day, the Golf Tournament will take place with a «Two Person Scramble» format with 5 Hole-in-One on the two golf courses of the Palmas Athletic Club. The event will begin with registration and breakfast at 7:30 a.m., shotgun at 8:30 a.m. and Awards Luncheon in the Ballroom of the Wyndham Palmas Puerto Rico Beach & Golf Resort from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Both Ramírez and Pérez Blanco assured that the entities they lead are committed to developing new initiatives that promote professional balance, quality of life and social responsibility. That is why the tournament will benefit with an economic contribution to the Center for Puerto Rico and the Kennedy Dining Room, two renowned non-profit entities that collaborate with communities in areas of food and community self-management.
