Paola M. Morales Carvajal, a biomedical engineer from Tierra de Gigantes in Carolina, Puerto Rico, is the founder and president of NovaHeart. With years of experience in research and leadership at prestigious institutions worldwide, Paola has made a significant impact in her field. NovaHeart is a pioneering medical technology company dedicated to revolutionizing cardiovascular care.
The company’s primary focus is on developing innovative, non-invasive solutions to enhance heart health and prevent chronic cardiovascular conditions, tackling the leading cause of death worldwide: heart disease. Through its cutting-edge technologies, NovaHeart aims to significantly improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
Her international experience includes research collaborations at institutions such as King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the United States Congress Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Paola has significantly contributed to the field of biomedical engineering through research ranging from the development of devices for pharmacological studies to the creation of medical devices for detecting neurodegenerative diseases and non-invasive drug delivery systems.
With more than eight technologies developed in the healthcare field, Paola has demonstrated a firm commitment to innovation and progress in medical care. The motivation to create NovaHeart drove her to embark on a mission dedicated to improving health innovation for all of humanity.
Paola is serving as President of the University Chapters and Young Entrepreneurs pf the Chamber of Commerce of Puerto Rico
Committee, where she will lead an agenda focused on pre-university students, university students, young entrepreneurs, and the next generation of global leaders. The committee initiatives will include forums, conferences, and projects in sectors such as aerospace, medical tourism, green economy, blue economy, entertainment, creative industries, and manufacturing. These activities will provide round tables, industry visit, seed capital, internship and employment opportunities, emerging innovations through innovathons, academic forums, and most importantly networking. Fostering new business ideas, emerging technologies, and innovations to drive economic development from Puerto Rico to the world. Additionally, Paola is pursuing her graduate studies in electrical engineering at Columbia University, New York, focusing her studies on extending the durability of astronauts in space through her company medical device, NovaHeart.
