We all know of the tragedy that occurred on June 24 in Surfside, Miami, more than 100 people lost their lives. The inefficiency of boards and officials responsible for reviewing the maintenance of the co-domain, led to the death of these people. The condo’sresidents called for help and complained of risks and irregularities in the condo, but the necessary corrective action was not taken. This tragedy can happen in our beloved Puerto Rico. Are we going to stick to our hands crossed until something similar is here?
According to El Nuevo Día, on our island, more than 70% of the structures are over 40 years old and were not built with the latest codes of construction. There are people who are uninspectable and who do not attach importance to the danger to structures when they are not properly checked and who make necessary improvements that pose a danger to residents and/or traders.
Many people resist change and work hard to save lives to achieve better Puerto Rico. We are here determined TO BRING ABOUT A CHANGE TO the codes, laws and maintenance of condominiums.
What do we need to make this possible? WE NEED A LEADER! Someone who is not afraid to make necessary decisions and does not get carried away by negative influences. Always working for the common good, for the life and safety of the residents in each condo. This is the kind of leadership we need!
