Dr. José Vázquez Barquet is currently Subway Restaurants’ Business Development Agent in Puerto Rico. He is also President of Caribbean Franchise, Inc., and franchisee owner for 20 restaurants.

Dr. Vázquez worked in Academia for 15 years, where he performed as Vice President of Finance, and later as Academic Dean in Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico.

Prior to his experience in higher education and business development, Dr. Vázquez served as an officer in the US Air Force. As he moved on to private industry he worked as a Senior Financial Analyst for Lockheed Martin and Financial Manager for Kraft Foods.

He has been an active member of the Chamber of Commerce of Puerto Rico as well as the Puerto Rico Restaurant Association (ASORE). He was elected and served as President of CCPR from 2015-2016, as well as President of ASORE in 2021. Dr. Vázquez was also President of the Small Business Technology Development Center’s External Board (SBTDC) from 2007-2011 and served as an Independent Director of the Board of Directors of the Santander Asset Management Family of Funds.

Dr. Vázquez has a Ph.D. in Management of Higher Education from the University of Pennsylvania, he is a graduate of the Price-Babson Symposium for Entrepreneurship Educators (SEE) at Babson College, and has obtained an MBA in Finance from the University of North Dakota.
