Mr. Bustamante is a professional hotelier with an over 40-year experience who has lived and worked in Canada, the United States, Puerto Rico, and Colombia. An avid reader and a studious leader and manager that has developed and coached many executives throughout the years, successfully motivating them and serving as their role model in their own development.

With Hilton International for 20 years, he conducted a major turnaround and a
multimillion-dollar renovation of the famous 700-room Caribe Hilton & Casino in San Juan (PR). Mr. Bustamante supervised the three Hilton properties in Puerto Rico as Division Director and led the group of Hilton Executives that looked for potential hotel projects in the Caribbean.

After having worked with Hilton International for twenty years, as sole owner he acquired the then Ramada San Juan Hotel, which he remodeled and repositioned in 2000 as the San Juan Beach Hotel. Once he joined the Blackstone Group’s Luxury Hotels brand in 2006, he sold his property to redevelop and lead the multimillion-dollar renovation of the renowned Condado Plaza hotel in San Juan (PR), which later became a Conrad Hotel when the Blackstone Group acquired Hilton Hotels Corporation in 2007.

A skilled negotiator, Mr. Bustamante successfully negotiated several hotel union contracts in both Colombia and Puerto Rico, particularly the one of the Caribe Hilton’s one thousand staff members in 2000, reopening the hotel after its major renovation.
