PR Chamber of Commerce Returns to Washington, D.C. to Advocate for Parity Efforts for Puerto Rican Health
Mission includes key meetings with the Resident Commissioner and Congressmen after the midterm elections
November 10, 2022, San Juan, P.R. – The Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (PRCC), through its Federal Affairs Committee, announced its return to the Federal Capital to defend the progress made in previous missions to advocate for parity in funds that would improve health services for Puerto Ricans, as well as other issues previously presented and discussed with members of Congress. the Executive Branch and business organizations. The mission to Washington will be from November 15 to 17 and the work agenda of the union’s Federal Affairs Committee includes meetings with the Resident Commissioner, Hon. Jennifer González Colón, with other congressmen and entities to emphasize core issues on public health services.
“After the result of the midterm elections held yesterday in the United States, it is imperative to prioritize the issues that seek to achieve parity in health funds, as well as core issues on Puerto Rico’s agenda before the federal forum. We are taking these steps in coordination with the Resident Commissioner, to strengthen the dialogue with the incumbents who prevailed in the elections, as well as to be able to address the officers who will be sworn in soon,” said José Julio Aparicio, director of the Federal Affairs Committee of the PRCC.
The PRCC has had several missions during this year to establish active communication with the Federal Government, gather support in the Federal Congress, with national non-profit organizations and obtain the endorsement of commercial sectors to fulfill the agenda drawn and agreed upon for the benefit of Puerto Rico.
Through the missions led by the PRCC committee, “Federal Affairs Chamber Educational Series” (FACES) we have been proactively addressing an agenda of issues of economic development, health, energy, manufacturing, food, infrastructure, contributions and sustainable development of infrastructure that we have been advancing in the Federal Capital. Since the beginning of these efforts, the Resident Commissioner has been available to support and coordinate joint efforts in compliance with the proposed agenda that will improve the quality of life of Puerto Ricans. Now it is urgent, to carry the message of private enterprise to gather additional support and raise our demand at the federal level in favor of the socio-economic development of the country and the entire private sector,” said Cameron Mckenzie, president of the PRCC.
