Insurance Executives, Healthcare Leaders, Providers, Entrepreneurs and Investors:

Puerto Rico is at a historic moment that invites us to be well informed about the business of health care, and the opportunities and challenges that the health care reform will yield for investors, entrepreneurs and others in the health care industry. With this in mind, the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the University of Miami (UM) School of Business Administration to promote and nurture entrepreneurship in the Island in the health sector. Our first project together is the Puerto Rico Health & Insurance Conference 2011 “A New Economy in Health Care”.

Puerto Rico’s strengths in the life sciences sector are significant. By volume, Puerto Rico has the fifth largest pharmaceutical sector in the world, the third largest biotech sector and the seventh largest medical device manufacturing industry. Health care is also evolving rapidly. With the significant expansion of the Medicare Advantage and Medicaid programs, the segment has seen rapid increases in employment and healthcare information technology investments, as well as significant transformations in service delivery and administration. Today, our 2011 Conference will provide a timely and unparalleled opportunity for deep discussion on some of the most critical areas where business and health care intersect.

We have prepared a robust agenda that will be delivered by a remarkable line-up of visionary speakers. Therefore, we hope that this edition of the Puerto Rico Health & Insurance Conference not only will educate our audience and provide valuable information about our economics and health insurance industry, investment climate, healthcare reform, healthcare expansion and many other topics of great interest, but will stimulate and energize our entrepreneurial spirit, optimism and confidence.

Congratulations for being part of one the most significant health insurance forum in our Island. This shows us your interest and responsibility.
